The Army, Navy and Air force are all part of the Peruvian Armed Forces. They are used to stop any threat of invasion from other countries as well as to safeguard their indepencence and sovereignty. They also help with economic and social development. The Military's Head Quarters is based in Lima with over 175,000 troops in the army, 125,000 troops in the Navy and 17,969 troops is the Air Force. . The Peruvian National Police of Peru report through the Ministry of Interior, while armed forces report through the Ministry of Defense.
